The Soulmate App is a dedicated platform designed to redefine the matrimony experience for individuals seeking life partners. The goal is to provide users with a trustworthy environment, fostering genuine and loyal connections.

Today's dating & matrimony apps are riddled with scams and a lack of privacy. People are frustrated with shallow hook-up culture and crave meaningful connections with someone who shares their life goals. Trust in these apps is at an all-time low.

In the preliminary stages of my project, I conducted thorough secondary research by examining existing apps in the market, particularly focusing on platforms such as BharatMatrimony, BetterHalf, and Shaadi.com in the matrimony sector, and Bumble in the dating domain.

Studying dating apps was useful because they share similarities in how profiles, matches, and chats work. This info guided my design choices for this app.

Insights 🎯
The majority of users struggle with trust issues when using these apps. They're often unsure about who they're talking to, which leads to disappointment in the long term or when meeting in person.
Users are afraid of all the scams and crime happening on these apps.
They complain that the focus is too much on looks, neglecting other important factors. They worry about what if the other person's priorities and future goals don't align with theirs.
Users are simply looking for long-term relationships or commitments, but nowadays, Matrimony apps are becoming more like dating apps, with casual interactions and no seriousness.
They're tired of starting the same boring conversations every day with new person and lack motivation to move things forward.
Sometimes, parents create and use their kid's accounts.
Observations & Solutions 📌
1 - It's been shown that anyone can easily create an account on these apps, leading to an increase in crimes and scams.
Solution - Document verification is necessary to filter out fake users, prevent scams, and verify individuals' identities.
2 - Certain apps require users to answer numerous questions during onboarding, potentially violating UX principles.
Solution - Streamline the onboarding process by requesting only essential data necessary for app usage.
3 - Dating/matrimonial apps predominantly rely on swiping based on looks for matching, overlooking deeper compatibility aspects.
Solution - Implement a compatibility check quiz based on questions and shared interests to enhance matchmaking.
4 - Users often become distracted as they engage with multiple options simultaneously.
Solution - Restrict communication to one person at a time, unmatching before connecting with another user.
5 - A lack of authenticity is observed on these apps and users perceive a lack of genuineness.
Solution - Provide a option to upload an introduction video on their profiles for connecting with other users. This allows users to see how the other person speaks, sounds, and their personality. Pictures and text alone can't fully capture a person's personality, so this feature helps users connect easily and build trust.
6 - The cluttered and confusing UI of some of these apps makes the experience less enjoyable.
Solution - Create visually pleasing UI design to improve usability, leading to a more engaging and satisfying user experience overall.
